Effective 10.10.2019
These are the provisions in case of withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union in the absence of agreement and from the date of effective withdrawal:
- British nationals residing in Italy, who have been registered with the city hall for 5 consecutive years “may apply at the police department, by 31/12/2020, for the issue of EU long-term residence permit”
- Their non-EU family members residing in Italy, who have been registered with the city hall for 5 consecutive years and holding EU long-term residence permit pursuant to art. 10 and 17 of Legislative Decree 30/2007 “may apply at the police department, by 31/12/2020, for the issue of EU long-term residence permit”
- British nationals residing in Italy for less than 5 consecutive years ” may apply at the police department, by 31/12/2020, for the issue of a residence permit for residency”, which will be valid for five years
- Their non-EU family members residing in Italy for less than 5 consecutive years and holding EU long-term residence permit pursuant to Art. 10 and 17 DL 30/2007 ” may apply at the police department, by 31/12/2020, for the issue of a residence permit for residency”, which will be valid for five years.
As from 1 January 2021, the provisions of Law-Decree 286 of 1998 will apply.
For those who fail to comply, penalties are provided for and expulsion is possible.
